Right after May’s Memorial Day holiday weekend, we got a sneak peak at the highly anticipated new equipment from Titleist. Spotted at Muirfield Village Club in Dublin, Ohio, the golf equipment powerhouse started its tour validation process as the tour pros began their practice rounds at Jack Nicklaus’ popular 2019 Memorial Tournament. New Titleist TS Hybrids and Utility irons were seen in several Titleist Ambassadors’ bags, and thanks to the PGA TOUR we were able to get up close and see what’s new from Titleist.
Hybrids and Metalwoods
Titleist is pulling together some of this new equipment under the “TS” (Titleist Speed) moniker in the market branding of new hybrids and metalwoods. This slots the clubs into the already well-known TS Family. The TS2 hybrid model appears to be the higher-profile of the two options and, based on our assessment, the one that players looking for a more forgiving club will enjoy the most. The TS3 is the sleeker and lower-spinning model of the two new hybrid club versions. Unfortunately, Titleist keeps tight-lipped while going through its validation process leaving us craving more information. But, don’t worry. As soon as Titleist is ready to share information, we’ll bring it to you.
The U500 (prototype shown here) and U510 will most likely be standalone driving irons sold separately from the full sets of irons Titleist carries in its lineup. With a polished, more defined look than the 712U irons of the past, it’s safe to say these are going to be red hot on the market after they are officially released.
Titleist tour ambassadors’ pre-testing of these products has definitely sparked an interest within the golf community. Just like you, we’re eagerly awaiting the end of the information embargo so we can run a full set of tests using our own custom Cool Clubs’ testing equipment.
